100 Years of Perryman’s Bakery

This month we were proud to celebrate an incredible milestone – 100 years of Perryman’s Bakery.

What began as a small family bakery in 1925 has grown into a much-loved Adelaide institution, and it was an absolute joy to share this moment with our community, customers and friends who have supported us through the decades.

The day was one to remember. Tynte Street came alive with the buzz of celebration as families, long-time customers and new faces joined us for a weekend full of festivities.

From the moment the celebration began and our bakery doors opened, the aroma of freshly baked pastries filled the air and the sound of laughter and live music carried down the street.

We were honoured to welcome the Lord Mayor of Adelaide – the honourable Dr Jane Lomax-Smith AM – who unveiled a commemorative plaque marking 100 years of our beloved bakery.

It was a proud and humbling moment for our team and for the generations of bakers who have worked within these same walls since 1925. The speeches reminded us of our roots, our dedication to quality baking and the enduring connection we share with the North Adelaide community.

Entertainment throughout the day kept spirits high. The talented performers from Circobats wowed the crowd with their acrobatics and energy. Families enjoyed free face painting by Love Birdy Face Painting, children’s activities and games, while our friends from Charlie Black Coffee kept everyone fueled and happy. And, of course, the incredibly talented musicians Zkye & Damo added to the relaxed, festive atmosphere, creating a true community celebration.

Of course, no Perryman’s event would be complete without our signature baked goods. Our shelves were stocked with pies, pasties, sausage rolls and a colourful display of sweet treats including our famous gingerbread.

It was heartwarming to see so many people reminiscing about their childhood favourites while discovering something new.

As we look back on 100 years of baking, we feel nothing but immense gratitude. We are deeply thankful to everyone who continues to walk through our doors, sharing a coffee and a chat, and those who made Perryman’s part of their family traditions.

Our story has always been about community – about bringing people together through good food and warm service.

While our bakery has evolved over the years, our commitment to quality, tradition and local ingredients remains as strong as ever. Here’s to the next century of baking, and to the wonderful community that makes it all possible.

Thank you for celebrating with us!
